Tom was my life saver during a very difficult time in my life. We found out that we had sat together during our childrens gymnastics classes many years previous. Guess we already had connected then. We later had running in common and the Boston Marathon. I tell everyone I know that Tom, Is and always Will be, My Life saver and helped me realize how wonderful life can be after such turmoil. He truely was a good friend. I last emailed you and never heard back so I was only hoping you no longer read your emails. I then tried again today and got it returned, so then I searched and realized you are still around just looking over me in a different way. Gone way too soon. See you later my friend. Hugs Carlene

I met Tom through My brother David Williams who Tom had worked with at St. Josephs hospital in Houston. We went on canoeing trip down the Guadalupe River together.The first time I met Tom I instantly liked him.He was so friendly and well read and interesting to talk to.It is no surprise he was a wonderful therapist.I remember once when we were canoeing together we got turned around going down a rapid and hit a rock that was in the middle of the rapid and it flipped us over!
We both were completely soaked and Tom wasn't mad at all , it was my fault, and we laughed and laughed the rest of the trip about it.I was so sorry to hear of his passsing but I know he is with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.Sincerely, Ron Williams

Tom was a wonderfully giving person and a gifted therapist. He helped me a great deal when I needed it most and was there to support me over the past decade. I treasured his wisdom and enjoyed our long conversations about God, the soul, and the next life. I guess now Tom knows the real answers.
Ruth, Laura, Julie, I know you're hurting. But Tom will never leave you. He's with you now and always will be. A number of years ago, a colleague sent me the following verse after a good friend of mine committed suicide. I hope it helps you too.
GRIEF
Grief is like the wake behind a boat. It starts out as a huge wave that follows close behind you and is big enough to swamp and drown you if you suddenly stop moving forward. But if you do keep moving, the big wake will eventually dissipate. And after a long enough time, the waters of your life get calm again, and that is when memories of those who have left begin to shine as bright and as enduring as the stars above.

I know the Mackin family understands what Tom meant to my family. A man who had been there for us since my father passed. Tom was more then a friend, more like family. My brother, Kelly, and Tom had a relationship that could only fit those two. Lord knows how any of them got a word off with the other talking...maybe that's why they always went and read books before they went and saw a movie, sothey could get a little peace.
Tom cared more about other people than he ever did about himself and that is what made him the amazing man he was. He took my brother in as his own, and for that, I will always thank him. Boys always need a father figure, and Tom was always that and more.

Ruth, you say you miss your homies; I know you are missing your real homie. Julie and Laura, you are both magnificent young women; sorry you lost you dad too soon in this earthly world. Look for the little miracles that will happen all the time to remind you that daddy is with you and looking out for you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at these tough times in our lives. I was one year behind Tommy at both St, Annes as well as Kelly High School. and we struck up a great friendship Your obituary was so perfectly true about everything about the man Tommy, and the legacy that he leaves behind. Tommy was a great man, a truely model citizen. May GOD continue to bless you and your family

Ruth,
I want to convey my condolences to you and your family. I did not know Tom well, but I so enjoyed him as a colleague and consultant at times. I often referred people to him, and discussed issues that he had more expertise in. He was always willing to have a good discussion, and his dedication and creativity was very apparent to me in the way he worked. I so appreciated him, and will continue to appreciate the memory of him.

I know you only through your precious Julie, your daughter with whom I work. She has grace beyond her years, strength beyond what one would think her capacity, a sense of humor God given with a dash of devil and a presence I do now, and forever will treasure.
